Uses of fat grafting:

  • Facial rejuvenation
  • Breast enlargement
  • Breast reconstruction (may take multiple stages)
  • Scar revision where you have been left with a volume deficit

Many people are familiar with the concept of skin grafts and bone grafts, where skin and bone is taken from one area and put in another.  Fat grafting is similar, fat is harvested from a donor site, usually the abdomen, hips and thighs, filtered and injected elsewhere (there is a variable limit as to how much can be injected in a single go).

It is considered that 50% to 80% of the injected fat survives and is permanent.
The secrets to success include low-pressure harvesting, careful filtration, and putting tiny beads in multiple layers.

Many patients come in for this treatment alone, but remember, if you are having liposuction or a tummy tuck, it’s your fat we are removing, and so we can also put some back in if you would like.
