Botox® and dermal fillers are two of the most widely requested aesthetics treatments here at The Beauty Gurus, and for good reason. Both of these options are highly safe and effective, as well as accessible for both celebrities, A-listers and the regular Tom, Dick and Harry. However, one bump in the road for many people is the fabled injection needle – something that can be a scary and distressing part of the treatment process.

You’d be amazed at how many questions we receive before treatment: “Does it hurt?”, “What does it feel like?”, Will I need anaesthetic?” etc. These are all very understandable areas of enquiry, and we always want you to feel as comfortable as possible before, during and after your treatment. Although in most cases, the needle is fairly well-received, we know it can be a problem for others. So, when we heard about the nano needle, we just had to give it a try!

What Are Cosmetic Injectables And Where Did They Come From?

Botox® and dermal fillers are two of the most common forms of injectable and both seek to help those who use them to achieve long-lasting anti-ageing results. Previously, it was thought that these treatments only had cosmetic benefits, however, both Botox® and dermal fillers have been used to treat varying health conditions such as bruxism, hyperhidrosis and migraines.

Although Botox® and fillers are now widely accepted, it wasn’t until the early 2000s that they really gained mainstream attention, primarily due to endorsement by people like Simon Cowell and Kim Kardashian. Before this, the public opinion of Botox® was largely unfavourable, with many believing those who had it done looked unnatural and that it was only for the rich and famous.

To this day, Botox® and other injectables are still one of the most popular forms of non-invasive treatment. Whether it be the ease as to which it can be done, the promise of a more youthful appearance or its accessibility – a couple of bouts of Botox®, a few times a year, and you’re good to go!

Needles And Injectable Treatments

The needles that we use for Botox® and dermal filler treatments are extremely small – much smaller than a needle that would be used for a flu jab or injection, for instance. Of course, this doesn’t mean that you won’t feel it (though you will feel it a lot less than traditional injections), and for those who have a fear of needles, this assurance will probably do little to help. Most popular brands of filler also use an extremely fine needle, and in some cases, they even contain lidocaine which works to numb the injection site and further reduce the likelihood of pain or swelling. At The Beauty Gurus we also use anaesthetic cream to improve things yet further.

Whatever you do, you should not put off getting Botox® or fillers as a result of needle anxiety because, in just one simple session, you could achieve a more radiant and healthy appearance.

The New Nano Needle

One of the biggest concerns our patients have is the injection needle. It is estimated that around 20% of the worldwide population has a debilitating fear of needles, and for many, it is the reason that they do not pursue medical or aesthetic treatment. To help our patients manage this fear, we have been trialling the new nano needle.

NeedlesIt is said that images speak louder than words, so instead of describing all the ways in which the new nano needle is beneficial, we thought we should show you. Below, on the right, you can see a traditional needle, and on the left, the nano needle. As you can see, the nano needle is extremely fine and is fashioned in a way that makes it almost imperceptible

This new needle has been crafted with the patient in mind. Not only does the ultra-slim design to make it less painful, but it has also helped to minimise swelling and chances of haemorrhaging. We have not seen a single bruise since we started using it.

At The Beauty Gurus, we regularly run clinical sessions to assess how our treatments are performed and received – and after trialling the new needle on our patients, they all loved it one of them stated that “it’s amazing and (you) can barely feel it.”
