DODGY PIP breast implants were EIGHT TIMES cheaper than standard types, it was revealed last night.
A top surgeon said clinics paid £130 a pair — compared to the normal price of £1,000.
But women were told the faulty French-made implants were high quality and were charged the usual rate for private ops of between £4,500 and £6,000.
Dr Vikram Vijh said the cheap cost of the implants to clinics “should have rung deafening alarm bells”.
Dr Vijh, a member of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, claimed the danger of PIP implants had been known for years.
