The main difference though is that patients come to us for our reputation, not because we are a “cheap” option. Essentially there are 2 forces that push this surgical tourism as it is often referred to: Price and Quality. It is odd that these motivations are at either end of the scale!
Needless to say, we counsel any patient that flies in from abroad very carefully. The risks of having surgery then travelling are very real and if we felt a patient would not follow our advice willfully, or would simply not be able to fly home safely then we would not undertake the procedure.

This is one reason why we adhere strictly to the 2 week cool off period. This allows patients to reflect on the consultation and to take their time in deciding to go ahead. Any provider that offers last minute treatments needs to be avoided! This is not in your interests, nor does it follow the guidelines we are given.
Travelling abroad for cosmetic surgery should not be taken lightly. Some of the best plastic surgeons are here in the UK. They are trained longer, have a better understanding of anatomy through NHS work and have guidelines to adhere to in relation to a cooling off period, aftercare and the like.
