“When Sali Hughes decided to make the considerable investment in breast reduction surgery, she knew it would change her posture and alleviate her neck pain. What she didn’t entirely anticipate was how it would change her sense of identity – for the better.” – British Vogue
Breast surgery is one of the most popular choices of cosmetic surgery in the UK, with many men and women across the country choosing to undergo treatment for different reasons. Whether it’s for aesthetic purposes or to alleviate pain, breast surgery can help you lead a happier life, so don’t underestimate the impact that breast surgery could have on your day-to-day routine and mentality. For many, breast surgery is a life-changing experience.
Breast Enlargement or “Boob Job”
Breast enlargement, often referred to as breast augmentation or a boob job, is a treatment that is suitable for women who wish to enlarge their breasts. It could be the treatment for you if you are unhappy with how your body looks or find yourself regularly lacking in confidence.
Usually the surgery works by inserting a breast plant in front of, or behind, the pectoralis muscle. At The Beauty Gurus, we commonly use the “made-to-measure” technique, which involves measuring the dimensions of your chest and providing an implant that fits your exact requirements. This way you will get the most natural-looking results possible!
A newer technique, called Fat Grafting, involves performing liposuction to areas of your body that you are unhappy with, to give you an improved figure and to then use that fat to graft into your breasts (so it is 100% natural to your body). It is a permanent solution that grows and shrinks with you as you gain or lose weight and is therefore extremely good for patients with asymmetric breasts or tubular breast deformity.
Most procedures are hassle-free, however, no surgery is without risk and all of this will be discussed with you during your initial consultation. Recovery times vary but needing to spend a night in hospital is common – most people return to work in 1-2 weeks!
Breast Uplift Surgery
Breast uplift surgery is designed to combat droopy breasts by raising them slightly. This treatment does not involve the removal of tissue or a change to the volume of your breasts, instead, it will help your breasts to regain a more youthful position and can be useful for those in the aftermath of pregnancy or following a period of significant weight loss.
This surgery is performed under general anaesthetic and requires incisions to be made to sculpt your breasts into their new shape. Usually, patients go home the day after surgery and are required to wear a sports bra for up to three months after treatment for extra support. From our experience, we recommend that you resume work after a week or two.
Breast Reduction Surgery
Breast reduction surgery is a treatment that can make your breasts a more desirable shape as well as reduce their size. For most, this surgery is a useful way to help alleviate back, neck and shoulder pain. It is also a handy procedure if you have difficulties going about your daily routine or find certain social or sporting situations uncomfortable. Breast reduction can also treat asymmetrical breasts (breasts that are uneven).
During your treatment, excess breast tissue and skin will be removed and one of our trained medical experts will reshape your breasts, moving your nipple to a higher, more youthful position. Treatment methods will vary depending on how much tissue needs to be removed from the breast.
This surgery is performed under general anaesthetic and usually requires a one night stay in the hospital to ensure no complications arise. Risks are rare and usually minor, with most people returning to work within two weeks!
