The female breast is intrinsic to a woman’s sense of femininity. It is important in there feelings of attractiveness to themselves and others. Loss of a breast or its “mutilation” through necessary surgery is thus devastating. Add to this the despair associated with a diagnosis of breast cancer and one begins to understand the very dark place this sort of situation can take the most robust of individuals.

Good cancer care is essential to there recovery and cure, but it is the breast reconstruction that takes them to a feeling of being whole again. A feeling of being normal both by themselves and possibly those around them.

Having accepted the importance of breast reconstruction it is essential that it is offered in an appropriate environment with adequate support for the patients, both mentally and physically.

All techniques of breast reconstruction should be available, from relatively non-invasive techniques such as fat grafting which is often done as a day case at The Beauty Gurus, to more complex techniques, such as implant reconstructions, muscle flap reconstructions, all the way up to DIEP flap (using the excess tissue from a tummy tuck) reconstructions.

During this difficult time of COVID a lot of this work has had to be put on hold in the NHS and the more complex techniques on hold in private facilities. Patients time to recovery and the mental stress associated with it will thus be worsened. For all those patients who need help The Beauty Gurus are available to you. We listen, we treat, we care.
